2007.03.01 A new site for my and Pernilla Carlsson's project The State of Things is released. At the moment there is a selection of images from the work we made in Shanghai during the winter. During the spring, images from Paris have been added but not yet put on the site. The site will soon be updated.

 

 

2007.02.22-25 SUPERMARKET is a newly established and independent art fair in Stockholm. SUPERMARKET art fair is a collaborative effort between artist-run spaces and organisations in Stockholm. Our objective is to create a dynamic and a free-flowing meeting place for artistic experimentation and initiative.

 

 

2006.11.01-2007.02.01 Artist in Resident at Duolun MoMA in Shanghai. Main focus during my residency was to work with the project The State of Things. A new site for the project is going to be released during the spring 2007. Besides working with the art project, I did some research on the Shanghai art scene for the Swedish Institute.  

 

2006.02.03-05 "mini market" is a new and independent art fair in Stockholm. The art fair is created by some of the largest artist run spaces and organisations in Stockholm. Project space Lounge, Konstnärshuset, Smålandsgatan 7, Stockholm, Sweden  

 

2005 - I'm currently the director of CRAC, Creative Room for Art and Computing, which is a digital media workshop located in Stockholm, Sweden. CRAC operates as an interdisciplinary platform, and as an embassy for rethinking how new media can and should be used.  

 

2005.04.06 was the premiere date for my new film, IMPORT – EXPORT. The film was screened at The University of Stockholm (The Institution for International Curating Management) in collaboration w. curator Susanne Rolf and at the Stockholm Art Fair in collaboration whith the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm.  

 

2005.03.10 at 6 p.m - 8 p.m Chinese rock group Public Kingdom 14 in a unique performance in the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm, Sweden! The P.K 14 performance is a part of the exhibition Made in China.P.K 14 press kit is here
 

 

2004.12.10 at 6.pm - 10 p.m The State of Things special screening in Berlin, Germany!
The State of Things is a project exploring public space as an arena for desire for consumption. The screening is at December 10, 18.00- 22 in the studio in the backyard of Brunnen Straße 45, Berlin, U-Bernauer Straße, Drinks are served!

2004.12.01 is the premiere date for EXTENSIONS. The film is a series of interviews made by Per Nyström & Tobias Sjödin in collaboration w. Garrick Jones. The film was shot on location in London July 2004. The screening will be at Konstfack, University College of Arts Crafts and Design, Stockholm. EXTENSIONS is a part of our survey on artistic methodology.  

 

2004.10.22 is opening date for the exhibition Scandiavian Sparks at 798 Space in Da Shan Zi art district in Beijing. SOC.Stockholm is presenting an array of our projects in the exhibition.

Vinn Vinn (Swedish for Winn Winn)is an upcoming project by Tobias Sjödin, Elisabeth Yanagisawa, Karl Tuikkanen and Karin Willén  

 

HEAVEN, was a temporary process room for art in a 1300 sq meter former garage in Stockholm. First opening on August 17th 2004. HEAVEN was initiated as a part of Swinging with Neighbours, a meeting between nordic and russian poets and artists.  

 

madeinchina.se is an ongoing project. More info to come.  

 

Sakernas tillstånd (The State of Things) is an art project by Tobias Sjödin and Pernilla Carlsson Sjödin. Sakernas tillstånd is made out of thousands of images. One of the projects main issues deals with questions of desire.  

 

The course, Split Vision “Photography as a technique and it’s role in contemporary art”; Part 1, was held at KTH Royal Institute of Technology -School of Architecture ,in October 2003. The main goal is to discuss some of the fundamentals of photography and give a deeper understanding of how to use images and the possibilities and limitations of the photographic image.  

 

GENERIC is a photographic project about contemporary office spaces. The project was shown at Bildmuseet i Umeå.  

 

SOC.Stockholm is a meeting-place for artistic and social experiments. Our space at Bondegatan 64 in Stockholm functions as a forum for discussions on art and social issues and a non-profit gallery space. Since the start in September 1999 SOC has produced a number of exhibitions, projects, meetings, conferences and happenings.
